Dr. Remya will share lessons learned from leading institutional OER initiatives, including building faculty buy-in, designing sustainable development models, aligning OER with student success data, and navigating the administrative and cultural shifts required to move from adoption to institutionalization.

Dr. Remya Mohanraj is a biologist, educator, and open education leader dedicated to expanding equitable access to learning through Open Educational Resources (OER). She serves as a Biology faculty member at Houston City College, where she also leads institutional efforts to advance OER adoption, development, and sustainability across disciplines.Dr. Remya has guided faculty teams in the authoring, adaptation, and implementation of high-quality, zero-cost course materials. Her work focuses not only on cost savings but on building comprehensive instructional ecosystems that include accessible design, aligned assessments, multimedia integration, and continuous improvement informed by student data.
Dr. Remya has presented at statewide and national conferences, including THECB Digital Learning Summit, Texas Digital Learning Week, and OERizona, where she has shared practical strategies for scaling OER initiatives, leveraging digital tools to enhance engagement, and leading through openness across disciplines. She is an active member of OE Global, Creative Commons OER networks, and the Houston area OER consortium.
