Open Pathways: Dual Credit, OER, and Student Success

Session Description:

In the opening keynote, Dr. Sandra Mohr, Kendra Morton, and Brooke Flores will share their experiences at Angelo State University in using Open Educational Resources and emerging AI tools in dual credit courses to reduce textbook costs, expand access to college credit, and enhance student learning across West Texas.

Speaker(s):

Dr. Sandra Mohr serves as the Inaugural Dean of Digital Learning and Instruction at Angelo State University, where she leads the strategic vision and operations of ASU’s digital education ecosystem from her office in the Porter Henderson Library. She brings extensive higher education leadership experience to the role, having previously served as Dean of Academic Resources and Administration at the New England College of Optometry, where she oversaw 16 academic departments, and as Interim Dean of Academic Affairs. Dr. Mohr holds a Doctor of Education in Global Educational Leadership from Lamar University, a Master of Arts in Educational Leadership and Administration from West Virginia University, and a Master of Science in Community Agency Counseling along with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from California University of Pennsylvania

Kendra Morton serves as a Faculty Training Specialist in the Center for Digital Learning and Instruction at Angelo State University, located in the Porter Henderson Library. She brings a rich background in education to her role, having spent nearly a decade as a Special Education teacher with San Angelo ISD before going on to serve as a Regional Specialist in Autism and Low Incidence Disabilities at Region 15 Education Service Center, and later as Coordinator of Low Incidence Disabilities for San Angelo ISD. Kendra holds a Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Child Development from Angelo State University and a Master of Arts in Special Education from Texas Tech University.

Ms. Brooke Flores serves as the Director of Dual Credit Operations in the Office of Admissions at Angelo State University. Based in the Hardeman Student Services Center, she plays a key role in connecting high school students with college-level coursework opportunities. Brooke is an ASU alumna, having earned both her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and her Master of Science in Counseling Psychology from Angelo State University.
